Giving Food A Second Chance.

Food Recovery

The North Valley Community Food Bank is an innovative food recovery initiative in Colusa County, California, dedicated to preventing perfectly good food from going to waste. By utilizing MealConnect, a nationally recognized food recovery online system, we mobilize volunteers to transport food donations from retailers to local non-profits.

Our mission is to address food insecurity in our communities by redistributing rescued food.

How It Works

If your organization is interested in partnering with our Food Recovery Program, please reach out.

Step 1

You have extra.

When a food retail partner has unsold or surplus food, they either contact us, or plan weekly scheduled pickups at their site.

Step 3

We weigh and report.

Our volunteer weighs donated food and enters it into MealConnect, which provides monthly reports to the retail partners, including an annual tax deductible donation receipt!

Step 2

We're on our way!

We then assign scheduled or special pickup requests to a volunteer, who delivers it to a food pantry in the same community.

Step 4

We give it away.

The local food pantry will provide the donated food to those in need.
